It’s Our Grand Reopening Reopening!
Saturday, June 5th From 1 pm – Close
Last year we opened the doors at our new location at 2028 Sheldon Ave eight days ( yes 8 ) before the pandemic essentially closed them again. We’ve been patiently waiting to host a reopening event and we’re finally there!
Please join us on June 5th to celebrate our Grand Reopening Reopening. We have a new head brewer who has filled the beer board with new and delicious beers. We have the work of some very talented local artists hanging on our walls. We will have Copycat food truck all day and we’re hosting a vaccine clinic from 3pm – 5pm ( a little retribution for shutting us down so soon after opening ). At 6pm, The Tenderfoot Bluegrass Band will fire up the live music from the brewery downstairs!
We will be serving beer at the bar upstairs and in the brewery downstairs and crowlers will be readily available. Additional parking will be available across Sheldon Ave at Service King Collision and we’ll have some designated bike parking in our lot if you want to ride. We will have part of the east parking lot roped off for those who want to bring lawn chairs and sit outside to hear the band.
If you haven’t been in to see us lately, please come down and check out the new and improved Toad! We think you’re going to like all the changes we’ve made. If you’ve never been to The Toad before, now’s your chance to see the place, meet the people, and try our beers! We’re excited to finally host this event and we can’t wait to say hi and show you around the new place.
Big news down at The Smiling Toad!
We wanted to let everyone know that we have a new head brewer on board and we think he’s going to change the game in the best of ways. We also wanted everyone to get a little insight as to why this is such a big deal.
When we decided to open the bigger better Toad on Sheldon Ave. our goal was to provide a larger, more inviting taproom to give our customers an even better brewery experience. The larger building also provided us with a bigger brewery and so we grew the size of our brewing system as well. Unfortunately, there were some unforeseen challenges that came along with our new location.
The pandemic hit the hospitality industry hard and it was especially difficult for us with restrictions put in place just weeks after our grand reopening. Like many breweries, the brewing schedule was turned upside down which presented its own unique challenges. We were just getting our feet wet with the bigger brewing system when all plans had to change. Fast forward a little, add in some blah blah blah where all the painful details go, and the Smiling Toad beers that we all love we’re not coming out the way they should. No brewery wants to admit that their beer doesn’t taste right, but we think it’s important for you to know, that we know… and that now we know that you know. It was extremely frustrating for us and we know it was frustrating for our customers. But now there is light at the end of the tunnel and his name is Cameron.
Cameron frequently wears a headlamp and is the new head brewer at the Toad. He is the guy responsible for getting all those beers with the quirky names back on tap and creating some fresh new liquid deliciousness that will carry equally entertaining titles. Cameron has worked for some incredible local breweries that we all know and respect and we are beyond thrilled to have him working with us now.
Finally, we want to thank everyone that has supported us in our journey. We hope you’ll follow along as Cameron works his magic, and we hope you’ll come see us soon!!
