Big news down at The Smiling Toad!

We wanted to let everyone know that we have a new head brewer on board and we think he’s going to change the game in the best of ways. We also wanted everyone to get a little insight as to why this is such a big deal.

When we decided to open the bigger better Toad on Sheldon Ave. our goal was to provide a larger, more inviting taproom to give our customers an even better brewery experience. The larger building also provided us with a bigger brewery and so we grew the size of our brewing system as well. Unfortunately, there were some unforeseen challenges that came along with our new location.

The pandemic hit the hospitality industry hard and it was especially difficult for us with restrictions put in place just weeks after our grand reopening. Like many breweries, the brewing schedule was turned upside down which presented its own unique challenges. We were just getting our feet wet with the bigger brewing system when all plans had to change. Fast forward a little, add in some blah blah blah where all the painful details go, and the Smiling Toad beers that we all love we’re not coming out the way they should. No brewery wants to admit that their beer doesn’t taste right, but we think it’s important for you to know, that we know… and that now we know that you know. It was extremely frustrating for us and we know it was frustrating for our customers. But now there is light at the end of the tunnel and his name is Cameron.

Cameron frequently wears a headlamp and is the new head brewer at the Toad. He is the guy responsible for getting all those beers with the quirky names back on tap and creating some fresh new liquid deliciousness that will carry equally entertaining titles. Cameron has worked for some incredible local breweries that we all know and respect and we are beyond thrilled to have him working with us now.

Finally, we want to thank everyone that has supported us in our journey. We hope you’ll follow along as Cameron works his magic, and we hope you’ll come see us soon!!

Know Before You Go

We are following all the safety guidelines that are in place and we ask that our customers do the same.  When you come to the brewery, please know what to expect and be compliant and understanding of the rules we need to follow.

Masks/ Face Coverings

Masks or face coverings are required for entry. Please keep your masks on until you arrive at your table and then remove them once you’re seated. If you use the restroom, order from the food truck, or move around the brewery for another reason, please put your mask on for the short trip there and back and mask up when you leave.


Reservations are available by phone if desired. Once you are seated, please stay at the table unless you need to use the restroom, order from the food truck, or order beer. Do not push tables together or move additional chairs to tables. The guidelines also prohibit mingling with other tables.

The maximum allowed size of a group is 8 people. We can not seat any groups together that did not come to the brewery together.

General Rules

You may receive additional instructions when you arrive and you may be asked to comply with a rule if you are not following it. We need your help and understanding to make this successful and safe for everyone. Remember, this is temporary and it’s what we need to do to keep our business open. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you.

To Go Options

We have the following options for beer to go:

  • 25 ounce crowler cans
  • 32 ounce crowler cans
  • 64 ounce growler refills (Bring your own glass)

Be sure to ask about our current crowler specials.

Crowler Pick Up 

Enter through the doors on the west side of the brewery and someone will be there to help you. If you would like to make your stop-in even quicker, call ahead with your order and we’ll have it ready for you when you arrive. (719) 418-2936

If you don’t want to come into the brewery at all, please just call us and we’ll be happy to take your order and bring it to your car when you arrive. (719) 418-2936
